Burnout and hard seasons: permission to rest

Caring for someone, grief, money worries, a job that never stops — some seasons wear us down slowly. Burnout isn't weakness. It's what happens when you've given more than you had for too long.
Signs you might be running on empty
Long-term stress can show up in many ways.
- Feeling tired however much you sleep
- Irritability or numbness
- Losing interest in things you used to enjoy
- Finding small tasks impossible
- Headaches, tension or a churning stomach
Why pushing harder backfires
When we're depleted, effort costs more and gives less. Rest isn't a reward for finishing; it's what makes anything possible.

Rest in small pieces
You may not be able to take a holiday. But you can take ten quiet minutes, say no to one thing, or let something be good enough. Small rests add up.
Sabbath, for anyone
The idea of a weekly rest runs right through Scripture, starting in Genesis — rest built into the rhythm of life, not earned by it. Whatever you believe, that rhythm is worth borrowing.
How Behind 6 helps
My Day lightens the mental load and keeps the end-of-day review kind. Check-ins help you notice your energy over time. My Safe Place is somewhere to simply sit. And the companion is there when you need to say it out loud.

Get support
